James felt the hard floor underneath him. It was harshly cold. He knew that, of course. It was very hard marble, obviously it would get cold in the dead of night. But apparently it was four in the morning. Most wouldn't be out at that time. As those filthy Muggles said, the early bird catches the worm. He wouldn't usually listen to Muggles and their proverbs. But they did prove useful. If anyone was there, the most he could do now was send them off to detention. Though he knew that his power didn't last from eight in the morning until five in the morning of the next day, in the ungodly hours of the morning.
His peaceful thoughts were disrupted by a noise. Were they footsteps? He wasn't sure. Still, he wouldn't stand up just to check.

"Well this sucks." Katarina sat up in her bed. She checks the time and thinks, Seriously? Only 4 in the morning? She has had trouble sleeping yet again so she forced herself out of her warm bed. Something she often does when she can't sleep is traverse Hogwarts. The Clock Tower is one of her favorite places to visit. Katarina spends enough time in the Slytherin common room studying the days away so a nice walk around Hogwarts is a treat for her. As opposed to many people, she looks fairly well after rolling out of bed. Katarina didn't bother cleaning herself up for this very reason and besides, who else would be out at this hour?
She quietly treaded up the stairs to the Clock Tower and reached the top. It was when she finally was inside that she realized there was someone else already up there. Since she's a seventh year, she could easily scare this person off unless they were a seventh year themself. A sixth year could be an exception as well. Anywho, she asked with unwavering inflection in her voice, "What are you doing up here?"

James knew his suspicion was right. The footsteps did get louder, especially on the hard floor of the clock tower. He turned his head to the side, hearing a voice of someone. He didn't know this person, that was for sure. Dark hair, dark eyes, did it ring a bell? No. Besides, he only gave his eyes to those he liked and despised. Like a certain blonde haired Ravenclaw who played Quidditch. He nodded, acknowledging the girl's question. "No reason too peculiar. Let's just say that I am up here for a reason that you shouldn't know," he answered, bearing a dark smile on his face. "Who may you be?"

"I could be asking you the same thing... and anyway, you say I shouldn't know why you're up here but will you tell me anyway?" Katarina asked hopefully. She was a very curious person. Then again, why would he bother answering her question if she hadn't answered his? "I'm Katarina by the way," she said nonchalantly. The dark smile of his intrigued her so she decided to not scare him away. Katarina wasn't sure if she could anyway considering he's a Slytherin as well. Well, at least he's not a Gryffindor. She'd have a fit if a Gryffindor were in her Clock Tower. Not that she owned the Clock Tower but, she spends a lot of time up there. Katarina took a few steps forward to further survey his appearance. Hm, he doesn't look like he rolled out of bed like me...

"I'll tell you if you tell me." he said monotonously. Normally he would have flashed a smile at the girl, which was exactly like what he did on a usual day. Except his fatigue seemed to stop all his thoughts. "Okay, fine. I was wandering about the castle. There, will that do was an answer?" james answered the girl. He nodded when the girl said who she was. He heard that name before. "Just a random question. You're Katarina Zambini?" Yes, he was very sure that sounded very awkward. But that name seemed so familiar. Finally he got it. Katarina Zambini, Slytherin Seeker and Quidditch captain. "Oh, the name's James Lockwood. Slytherin prefect."

((OOC: sorry, I had to go to New York for a few days for a family emergency.))
"Oh I was wandering about the castle as well," she said a little surprised. Katarina wondered if he wandered often and if he did, she thought it strange that she's never seen him about this late before. She nodded when he asked her of her identity and her eyes widened in interest when he said he was a Slytherin prefect. Sounds like her previous assumptions of him being a Slytherin were correct. But what was a prefect doing at this hour? "If you're a prefect, shouldn't you be a goody two shoes and be in bed asleep?" she asked with an edge to her voice. Katarina had something against prefects in general. She had always wanted to be one during her beginning years at Hogwarts but, her disciplinary record sure prevented her from being so.

The Slytherin laughed darkly at what the girl said. Yes, James Cahyle Lockwood was a prefect. But goody two shoes? Definitely not. "Hey, I am a prefect, just not a 'goody-two-shoes' like what you said. We have our late nights at times, or in this case..." he whispered, pausing nonchalantly. "Early mornings." he continued, grinning like the cheshire cat by then. James looked around the clock tower. No one but the two Slytherins. Obviously, he wouldn't expect someone out there. Just him, the girl, and a gigantic face of a clock.
((ooc: no problem lol))

"Well, I guess that makes you a Slytherin then, eh?" If he was a goody two shoes, Katarina would be ashamed to call herself a Slytherin. She giggled in response to "early mornings" and had to admit, the hours were ticking down to morning classes. Her first class of the day? Transfiguration. How she hated that class with a passion! Katarina will probably be extremely tired by then but, she didn't care; she'd sleep the class away. "Do you normally come up here?" she asked curiously. One, she wanted to know if she'd run into him again sometime soon. Two, she'd like to know who else comes and visits the great clock tower.
