Misty Longbottom skipped down to the lake, a beach towel in her hand, wearing her swimsuit, which was covered by a t-shirt and a flowy white skirt. She loved her swimsuit, covered with ruffles and bright colors. It was Saturday, and as such, Misty had no classes, leaving her free to do whatever she pleased. She'd woken up that morning and felt like going swim, so she'd put on her swimsuit and headed for the lake.
As she neared the shore, she pulled her shirt over her head, leaving it and her skirt and towel on a rock on the shore. Now in only her swimsuit, Misty waded in as far as she could, then dove under the water. She surfaced soon after, laughing for the pure joy of it and shaking her short blonde hair like a dog.

Pixie flicked her tail out in the water and shot down through the water and reeds and twisted round and then curled her tail up so she was standing up or floating level in the water. She smiled and then felt her pointed ears twitch and she looked up towards the surface to see a shadow floating in the water above her, she ran a green hand through her red hair and then flicked her tail and swam up through the water slowly before breaking the surface and she felt her face go warm as her gills shrank back in to her head and she took a breath of air and then looked around ,she could feel the sun on her face and she giggled quietly, atleast the green would be sapped from her skin in the sunlight

At the sound of water movement, Misty whirled around, seeing a red-headed girl surface behind her. The girl giggled, though Misty couldn't tell if she was laughing at her or just laughing for the heck of it. As she continued to look, she noticed that the girl's skin was a slightly different shade than most people's. In fact, it looked... a pale green, actually. Misty waved at the girl.
"Hi!" she said cheerfully, glad to find someone who was about her own age to talk to. "I don't mean to be rude or anything, but do you mind if I ask why your skin is green?" No one ever said that Misty was good at being tactful. In fact, she was rarely tactful at all. "It's a really pretty color, by the way. Green is one of my favorite colors. It reminds me of plants, which reminds me of my father's greenhouse. I always loved being in my father's greenhouse. Oh, gosh, I'm rambling again, aren't I? Oh dear, I'm so sorry, I just get to talking and I find it hard to stop."

Pixie heard a voice and she twisted round in the water and spotted another girl in the water and she tilted her head to one side and smiled ,"look down" she said in a light and high voice ,her voice always sounded different when she was in her water form but that was just her. Her tail flicked in the water and she stabled herself out so her head was out of the water and not just her ears, ,"my turn, what you doing in the lake?" she asked in her mervoice as she flicked her tail again so she moved a little closer the older girl ,not a lot older true but older all the same

Misty looked down as she was told, and her eyes opened wide in surprise as she did so.
"No. Fricken. Way. You're a mermaid? That is sooo cool! So you can, like, breathe underwater and stuff? Can you leave the water at all? Oh my gosh, this is so awesome!" she said excitedly, grinning broadly at the other girl. She blinked at her question.
"What am I doing in the lake? Oh, just swimming, you know. I like swimming, it's fun. Of course, you would already know that, wouldn't you? I don't have classes today, so I thought a little swim would be nice. It's pretty warm around here, so it also helps to cool off. My name's Misty Longbottom, by the way," she explained in her round-about way. "What's your name?"

Pixie Flicked her forked tail up and splashed a small wave over the other girl and then she giggled quietly ,"you gotta learn how to breath in between words" she said as she flicked her tail around her and curled it up into a ball and then flicked it out straight and balanced herself out ,"and to answer in order, I'm half wizard and half mermaid, by classification I'm a merchild, breathing under water is easy for me and I can leave the water all I like, I go to hogwarts myself" she said and then flicked her tail again and swam around the girl so she was on her other side and closer to the bank ,"and my names pixie, pixie green" she said and then lifted her hand out of the water, for a moment it stayed very dark emerald green and then once the sun hit her ,the skin paled up until the green was only visable where her arm reached into the water again

Misty laughed at the girl's admonishment. "Yeah, I have a tendency to ramble a lot. My mother claims she doesn't know where I get it from, and I have to say that I pretty much agree with her. She's not extremely talkative, and my father has always been rather quiet. Oh, dear, I'm doing it again, aren't I? I'm sorry, I really don't mean to," she said, shrugging her shoulders. The blonde girl listened carefully as Pixie explained what she was, and her eyes lit up with excitement.
"So you're kind of like a reverse animagus, only instead of an animal, your other half is a mermaid? That's so neat! I'm in training to be an animagus, too. Once, when I was in my father's greenhouse, I saw this really cool hummingbird, and I thought it was sooo cool, so I talked to my mother and she said you could learn to turn into an animal, so I've been training ever since to become a hummingbird animagus."

Pixie felt her tail curl up and get ready splash the other girl as she rambled on again but she caught herself and stopped and pixie nodded her head and let her tail drop down below her ,"not really, my kind are like what you humans call metamorphmagi, we can change our appearance. We of course do it as camouflage so we can fit in and not be hunted but it comes in handy on land ,it's why I look so similar to my mothe.."cousin" ,I changes myself to look like her ,aside the hair ,I always wanted curly hair" she said and gave a small smile and then tilted her head to one side ,"my moth.."cousin" is an animagus though, so I know what you meant to get at" she said with a flick of her tail

Misty nodded as Pixie explained exactly what she was. "You do have really pretty hair," she complimented. She was about to continue on, but she caught her tongue in the nick of time. She didn't really feel like getting splashed over the head again. The last time water had gotten in her ears, and she hated trying to get it out.
Her eyes widened as Pixie explained that her cousin was an animagus as well, totally missing the fact that Pixie nearly called her cousin her mother twice. "Really? That is soooo cool! Who's your cousin? What does she turn into?" Misty wanted to go on, but she knew that if she asked even one more question, she would start to ramble again. She figured she'd ask her other questions later.

Pixie rolled her bright Amber eyes and then blinked and smiled ,"one, yes dealt, two Nix Lily Night ,gryffindor qudditch team captain and troublemaker and defender of the weak and powerless and third, she becomes a wolf. I'm convinced it's a dire wolf but she just says it's a big one" she answered before flicking her tail and swimming back a little until she could feel the warmth coming off the sand below her and then she pushed her hands up and felt herself shot under the water. She looked around as her hair spread out in the water around her before giving a very sharp toothed grin and then beating her tail down hard and swimming towards misty under the waters surface
