Alex slid down the wall, resting his head on the hard stones and closing his eyes. The Ravenclaw commonroom had become rather unbearably crowded, and he'd just had to get away. So, he'd come to the Clock Tower. He particularly loved the Clock Tower, with the soothing rhythmic sounds softly echoing in the air around him. He found it quite peaceful. It wasn't often that he came across other people while he was up there, and so it provided an often necessary respite from the crowds.
He sat there for a while in peace, hearing nothing but the movement of gears and the gentle ticking of the clock. But then, another sound reached the boy's ears- the sound of footsteps. Alex groaned inwardly, wishing whoever it was would just go away and leave him in peace.

James wanted to go up to the clock tower. Though it was strange. Normally he would go there at four or three in the morning. Wait, scratch that. He had only been there once within the past two years. And that one was where he met Katarina. Now he just had an urge to go there out of boredom. He had absolutely nothing to do. The Slytherin dungeon was empty, except for a bunch of first years waiting for the Quidditch tryouts. He knew that they had no chance at it. Versus the older Slytherins with much more expert brooms, it was an easy side.
He wouldnt normally expect to see someone else at the tower. But there was. Alexander Woltheizen. He never actually had a decent conversation with him. Maybe a few hello's and hi's here and there, but that was it. He coughed. Nowadays he'd been using that to get people to notice him. He hoped it would work now.

At the sound of someone's cough, Alex reluctantly opened his eyes to see James Lockwood, Slytherin prefect and, from what Alex knew, sworn enemy of his cousin, Angeline Lockwood. "Hello, James," he said, remaining on the floor where he was but sitting up a little bit straighter. This was also the same prefect that had dared Alex, Nix, and Angeline to stay all night in the boat dock. He could still remember the insults that had been doled out during that particular conversation.
"Fancy meeting you up here," he said, looking at the boy. As far as Alex could remember, James had never even made eye contact with him, let alone had a decent conversation.

Alex obviously took his cough asan acknowledgement. Perfect, he thought. He never made eye-to-eye contact with Alex, except for that dare he made before that he, Angeline and Nix would spend the night in the boathouse. It was out of fun, and a great laugh when some other Slytherin announced it to the entire common room. "Alex." he spoke steadily. "Fancy you up here as well. So, if I could ask. What are you doing up here?" There were around three insults already packed about Ravenclaws and all that. He held his breath, keeping his eyes still locked on the Ravenclaw's.

Alex shrugged nonchalantly. "I'm here to get away from the people in the commonroom and to take a break from studying. Amazingly enough, Ravenclaws do get sick of doing that every once in a great while," he replied, stretching his arms and standing up. It made him feel weird to speak to someone was standing while he was sitting on the floor. His eyes narrowed as he looked at the other boy.
"So, now that I've answered your question, tell me, James, why are you up here? Hoping to find some first years to scare?"
